I have always been a fan of a big bodied sports sedan. I don't know what it is but I would rather take a long wheel base, back seat, four doors, and a big motor over a loud and obnoxious 2 door sports car. My dad always had wagons when I was growing up and maybe thats where some of my feeling came from. The idea of a daily drivable, useful vehicle that can also get you from point A to point B extremely quickly and put a smile on your face while you do it sounds just awesome to me. BMW understood that same idea many, many years ago. BMW took their midsize family sedan, the 5 series, but mated it with a hopped up high performance motor and in 1985 the BMW M5 was born.
Since this first car, the recipe of a 4 door sedan with a lot of power has always remained the same. Through 5 generations, including mine, the E39 M5, these vehicles have become more and more performance orientated while also more user friendly making them a staple in BMW ever growing lineup.
Fortunately for us at Psi we get to take these amazing vehicles and make them faster, look better, and handle better then they already do. We got a chance to do this recently on the newest version of the M5, the F10 body style.
Boasting 560hp and 502lb-tq the F10 M5 is no slouch and will make many sports cars of today look almost silly in comparison. With a twin turbo V8 under the hood the M5 is an absolute powerhouse and to be honest really doesn't need much more power. There will always be those looking for more and I don't blame them, but for most people upgrading the cosmetics of this beautiful super sedan is money well spent. Matching the looks to the performance is extremely important to us at Psi.
A customer came to us with a gorgeous 2013 black Sapphire Metallic M5 and was looking to do some cosmetic upgrades. We helped him out in selecting the Vorsteiner M5 package which included a 2 piece front lip, rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler along with a few other cosmetic add ons.
For some reason the stock vehicles coming from the factory always have chrome accents that break up the truly sinister look of the car. When going over options with our customer we thought that going with all black accents would totally change the look of the car. As you can see from the pictures, it did just that!

The Vorsteiner 2 piece carbon fiber front lip really makes the front of the car look so much more aggressive while also giving the impression that the car is lowered when its not, yet. The gloss black double slated kidney grills black out the entire front end of the vehicle. Along the profile of the car we added custom ordered side grills which have Sapphire Black outers and gloss black inners and also include a smoked side marker lens to keep the stealthy look.
Adding to the rear we applied the Vorsteiner carbon fiber boot lid spoiler for a little extra downforce at speed and also an added cosmetic cue.
Last but not least we added the gloss black M5 badge for iND Distributions to finish off the blacked out look.
Once we delivered the car to the customer he was more then happy with his new look. However it seems like it is not enough. As most cars guys say, once you start the inch you just can't stop scratching. The customer plans to include the Vorsteiner carbon fiber diffuser, an aftermarket performance exhaust, Vorsteiner wheels, and lowering springs. This will be a very exciting build in the weeks to come. One I think Darth Vader would be proud of.
