Working at Precision Sport Industries I get to see and work on some pretty amazing vehicles. Sometimes are exotics or high performance vehicles and some have a lot of time and effort invested in customizing. The car I got to work on this week was both! A long time customer of PSI brought in his Nissan GT-R with a full dry carbon fiber body kit from Bulletproof Automotive.
The Nissan GT-R has a long history starting back in 1969 with the first Skyline GT-R when Nissan merged with the Datson car company. This started an almost 50 year legacy that continues on today with the newest version, the R35 GT-R or commonly known as Godzilla. This particular car is a 2013 model and even before the car was purchased the customer was already in contact with aftermarket body kit giant Bulletproof Automotive Japan. The customer decided to go with a full 14 piece dry carbon fiber bodykit that includes hood, fenders, doors, bumpers, trunk and roof. The dry carbon fiber give the car the look of scaly skin, somewhat like that of Godzilla.
To add a little flair to an all black car the customer added bubble gum pink Brembo brake calipers framed by 21 inch gloss black Advan GT wheels.
This GT-R came in for a set of BC Racing coilovers to help lower the car for a better stance and some better handling. The front suspension came out pretty easily however, we had to do both sides at the same time, because the sway bars were so tight that we couldn't raise or lower one side of the suspension without doing the other. The new BC's going back in were easy to instal and only took about an hour and fifteen minutes for both sides.
The rear suspension however was a completely different story. The tops of the strut towers, which hold the rear coil overs in place, were located inside the car behind the rear seats. This was a little nerve wrecking because I had to start pulling out the interior of our costumers $130,000+ car. I didn't want to mess anything up! None the less, after getting inside the coil overs were not difficult to instal but it took about an hour per side in the rear.
Over all the customer was very happy with his car and its new lowered stance. Here are a few other pictures of the car. Enjoy!
